Target Audience: Extension clientele with wind energy interest such as land owners, business owners, local utility representatives, and economic development officials.

Program Summary:
This webcast gives an overview of small wind turbines. Topics to be covered include: applications, estimating wind turbine production, policies & economics, the process for installing small wind turbines, small wind system components, and technology questions. This presentation gives participants the tools needed to determine if a wind system is appropriate to a particular application and to avoid common pitfalls encountered in analyzing and executing small wind turbine projects.

Presenter:
Antonio C. Jimenez - National Renewable Energy Laboratory/National Wind Technology Center
Mr. Jimenez is a member of the NREL Wind Powering America team. His activities include administering NREL’s Native American Anemometer Loan Program and providing analysis assistance to tribes contemplating wind energy projects. Other work includes development of wind farm financial analysis and small wind analysis tools, wind project economic impact analysis, outreach to the cooperative extension community, and co-authoring two hybrid system application guidebooks. A commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, Mr. Jimenez worked on reconstruction in Iraq as a project manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He holds a B.S. in engineering physics from the University of Colorado and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University.

Windustry Web Site: [www.windustry.org] . This web site is devoted to community wind. It has many resources for the would-be developers and land owners.

How Do I Connect: February 13 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM CST. You will need to have a computer with Internet access. At the meeting time, simply click on the following link or copy and paste it into your browser to enter the meeting: [connect.extension.iastate.edu] .

When you go to that URL you will find yourself at a login page. Simply click on “Click to Enter” under the “Enter as a Guest” heading. You will then be prompted for your name. Enter your name and click “Enter” to enter the meeting space. The instructions that detail how to join the integrated phone audio conference will be on the screen when you join the meeting.

The audio portion of the presentation will require you to have speakers for your computer. You can check your ability to hear the audio by connecting to this archived web seminar - [connect.extension.iastate.edu] . Audio volume can be adjusted by going to “Start”, then “Control Panel”, then “Sounds and Audio”.
